Triggers

A trigger decides when a spot or zone starts playing. SoundSpots supports four kinds:

  • iBeacon – recommended; works on both iOS and Android.
  • Beacon (MAC) – Android only. iOS does not expose beacon MAC addresses.
  • WiFi – by SSID/BSSID.
  • GPS – by polygon area or circle radius.

iOS compatibility

A spot or zone whose only trigger is a MAC-based Beacon cannot be triggered on iOS. The admin highlights this with an orange warning icon next to the spot/zone, and on the place list you'll see a red ✗ in the "iOS compatible" column. Add an iBeacon, WiFi, or GPS trigger to make it iOS-compatible.
